Areas of research
The transport of water, solute and energy in surface waters and groundwaters is the central part of applied research at the Chair of Hydrology. Basic research of hydrological processes and systems are pursued with three complementary approaches:
- Experimental hydrology (hydrometry and tracer hydrology)
- Modelling
- Regionalization
Current areas of research at the chair are (amongst others):
- Water-scarce regions and arid hydrology
- Environmental Pollutants
- Tracer and Isotope Hydrology
- Sensor networks in experimental hydrology
- Process interactions and feedbacks of water and solute fluxes
- Preferential flow
- Impacts of global change on the water cycle
