Research
Hydrologists from Freiburg investigate the water cycle in several regions of the world. They develop and improve hydrological measurement techniques and survey methods within national and international research projects. Hydrological research in Freiburg is the science of water in the environment with pronounced connection to practitioners. Innovative experiments are conducted and simulation models are developed to detect, visualize and predict the temporal and spatial dynamics of surface and subsurface water fluxes. This permits a specific representation of natural processes of the water cycle as well as the anthropogenic impacts or effects of climate change. Teaching is intimately connected with research in all areas and provides students interesting insights into basic hydrological research questions right from the start of their studies.
